Recently I was able to attend a conference at Atlanta Botanical Gardens. It was a treat because I was able to gain some wonderful knowledge while being able to explore the Atlanta Botanical Gardens with no crowds. Sometimes I was lucky enough to have an area all to myself. It was a great time as I searched for trolls and enjoyed the flowers. There are two main exhibitions taking place at the gardens right now, Trolls: Save the Humans and Orchid Daze. I was able to view both and as always I was impressed.
CHECK OUT: A Night at the Museum: High Frequency Friday
The Trolls: Save the Humans
The Trolls: Save the Humans exhibition is crafted by artist Thomas Dambo’s and features giant trolls – ranging from 15 feet tall to 25 feet wide. They are impressive and are located throughout the boardwalk paths and overlooks in Storza Woods. You will find an additional troll located by the Alston Overlook, which you are allowed to climb the legs. Yes, I took full advantage of this.
The Trolls: Save the Humans will be at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens until Sept. 17th.
Orchid Daze
Orchid Daze exhibitions is in it’s last days as April 9th is it’s closing day. The bright colors and the sheer amount of orchids available is amazing. The area also includes murals by the following artists, Niki Zarrabi and Janice Rago of Atlanta, and Lara Nguyen of Asheville. As someone that loves murals, I was excited to see them used in this space.
Atlanta Botanical Gardens offers more than fascinating flowers and smells. There’s also an Edible Garden which they use at a outdoor kitchen. There’s plenty to explore and worth a day visit and if you have children there is more than enough areas for them to run off some energy.
If you have yet to visit or like me and enjoy the outdoors, the gardens are a treat and make for a perfect spring outing, for more information on the visit atlantabg.org.
